The Battle of Arizona was a massive battle where S.H.I.E.L.D., the Ultimates, and the United States Air Force defended the planet from the alien Chitauri.
History[]
The Chitauri were based in Arizona and attempting to remove free will from the planet bloodlessly, until Chitauri ships appeared in the sky and ordered Kleiser to activate a bomb to destroy the solar system as the Chitauri's enemies had beaten them back. Seeing the planes, the thought-dead Ultimates and a few S.H.I.E.L.D. soldiers were teleported to the base by Thor. Steve Rogers called the United States military and began fighting Kleiser, soon with Nick Fury's help. Clint Barton led ground forces, and Thor and Anthony Stark took out Chitauri ships in the air. One ship started to crash into Phoenix, but Stark used his suit's full power to throw it away from the city. Janet van Dyne and Natalia Romanova fought to the bomb controls, but found them indecipherable. Unable to defeat Kleiser, Rogers had Bruce Banner thrown from a helicopter to force a transformation into the Hulk. Rogers sent him after Kleiser, and then the spaceships after Kleiser was killed. Stark began helping Thor again after drawing all of Arizona's power to recharge his suit, but went to help Romanova and van Dyne with the bomb when the Air Force arrived to aid in air support. Stark dragged the bomb out into the open, and had Thor teleport it to another dimension. The Chitauri were defeated, and the Ultimates were hailed as heroes.
