The Blackbird is a stealth aircraft used by the X-Men. It was bought with money from the Hellfire Club.

History[]

Jean Gray was the common pilot of the Blackbird, and Henry McCoy operated on it with design modifications. The X-Men sent the Blackbird to save James Howlett from Weapon X and to rescue George Bush's daughter from Croatia. Howlett drew the President's daughter off a cliff and into the Blackbird's hangar bay. It was used by Scott Summers to defect to the Brotherhood of Mutants in the Savage Land. The Blackbird was used by the Brotherhood to bomb London, but Summers took it to Washington D.C. to save the city from Erik Lensherr using Sentinels sent by Bush after he detected the Savage Land by tracking the Blackbird. It was also used to go after Pietro Lensherr and Wanda Lensherr and take the X-Men to Japan. The Blackbird was used to transport the X-Men to London on Charles Xavier's book tour, and then to Muir Island. Summers and Ororo Munroe later took it to San Fransisco, and on the return trip Summers flew upside down directly over Jean Gray driving Theresa Pryde and Kitty Pryde to the Xavier Institute for Gifted Children. Summers and James Howlett took it to the Savage Land again to investigate soldiers disappearing. Kitty stowed alone, and Summers had her stay at the plane, but she ended up heading to them anyway.
