History[]
First Missions[]
Lensherr formed the Brotherhood of Mutants with the intention of causing fear in the human populations. His bombing of Washington D.C. resulted in the creation of the robotic Sentinels. The Brotherhood then was surprised by the X-Men's appearance and James Howlett was sent in to kill Charles Xavier. The Brotherhood's next move was to kidnap George Bush's daughter, and take her to Croatia to stall the Sentinel program. The X-Men managed to escape with her, but the incident caused Scott Summers to defect. After a bombing raid in London to prevent the creation of British Sentinels, Bush tracked Summers' Blackbird and found the Savage Land. He sent Sentinels that Lensherr reprogrammed and went with them to destroy D.C.. He was defeated by the X-Men and declared dead. Howlett later called in the Brotherhood to aid him in taking down Weapon X and freeing the X-Men. The Battle in Weapon X ended with Jean Gray sparing the soldiers at Weapon X, John Wraith's apparent death, and the recruitment of Cain Marko and Marian Carlyle into the Brotherhood. At Xavier's prodding, the Lensherr children began to work in negotiations rather than violence, leading to an extreme faction, the Acolytes, breaking off. They were defeated by the X-Men in New Zealand. The Brotherhood broke a large number of Animal Evolutionaries out of a laboratory, and soon Mortimer Toynbee, Marko, Carlyle, and others left. Pietro Lensherr led a mission that disarmed Pakistan and India of nuclear weapons, and investigated more human rights abuses. Franklin Dukes' long term sting operation involving pretending to be 'Naomi' in a series of e-mails with Henry McCoy led to McCoy revealing that Lensherr was alive. Prosimian arranged a meeting with McCoy and 'Naomi' where the Brotherhood beat him, and proceeded to free Lensherr, while not telling Pietro and Wanda Lensherr. Lensherr first killed Prosimian and planned for a war.
