Ultimate X-Men 11: Sins of the Past was the eleventh Ultimate X-Men issue, the penultimate chapter in the Weapon X story arc.
Summary[]
Eleven years ago during a war Kuwait, Nick Fury radios John Wraith, asking for air and ground support as Iraqi soldiers have freed James Howlett from his cage. Fury is knocked unconscious by a car bomb and the Iraqi soldiers move in to scan for supplies when Howlett kills them off. Fury sees Howlett and tells him he's not scared of death. Later, Wraith and others search unsuccessfully for Howlett, but Howlett returns to camp saving Fury's life. In the present day, Fury gets a message on his phone that begins playing. In Weapon X, Jean Gray apologizes to Howlett for doubting that he believed in the dream of the X-Men. Wraith has a videoconference with Thaddeus Ross where Ross confirms that in 2003, Weapon X will be fazed out. Wraith makes the case for keeping the program, but when Ross refuses he uses Cerebro to detonate the government building Ross is in. Victor Creed takes Howlett in the forest to burn the only files on Howlett's life. In Weapon X, Abraham Cornelius reports an abnormality to Wraith, and Wraith realizes it is a tracking device. The power switches off in the building, and the Mutant's leave their cell, and the soldiers' control of neural implants in their head is taken by the Brotherhood of Mutants.
