Ultimate X-Men 14: Wild Card is the fourteenth Ultimate X-Men issue, ending a two-issue arc.
Summary[]
Four mob posses are having a card game when they are attacked by Remy LeBeau interrupts. He tells the main mob boss that he's looking for a little girl, and he tells him to look in Manhattan. LeBeau keeps asking, and then attacks the mobsters as they try to kill him. After dispatching of a few mobsters, Patch responds, telling LeBeau that he is looking for Hammerhead. Patch kills the other awake mobster to hide his betrayal as LeBeau leaves. In an ally, he is approached by Charles Xavier and Ororo Munroe. Xavier offers him as position at Xavier Institute for Gifted Children, and LeBeau refuses, but takes Xavier's business card. He goes to Allen Silvermane's building where Hammerhead was supposed to work, and attacks his workers until one tells him where to find Hammerhead. LeBeau walks into a trap Hammerhead has said, and Hammerhead tells LeBeau he has already killed the little girl he took. Throwing explosive cards, LeBeau rockets up to Hammerhead, but Hammerhead starts beating him. LeBeau sticks his hand in Hammerhead's mouth, and reveals that the power is in him, not the cards, and detonates an explosion in Hammerhead's brain. He finds the little girl alive, and gives her to two people that will protect her. Before he leaves, he lets her fly on an umbrella like Mary Poppins. LeBeau leaves as she's in the air, but leaves her a heart from a card.
