Ultimate X-Men 21: Hellfire and Brimstone Part 1 is the twenty-first Ultimate X-Men issue.

Summary[]

Kitty Pryde enters her mother Theresa Pryde's house, and Pryde busts her and her friends for try to go to a party at a friend's house. She goes to get pasta from the fridge and it phases through her body, and Kitty then phases through the floor, screaming for help. Kitty phases through a wall, into the street, through cars, and falls in the sewers, sadly calling her mother to tell her she had another incident. Pryde e-mails Charles Xavier to have Kitty join the Xavier Institute for Gifted Children. Jean Gray picks her and her mother up in the morning, and Scott Summers flies the Blackbird upside down over their car as they drive. At the Institute, Xavier greets Pryde as Gray takes Kitty through the mansion. They see Piotr Rasputin carrying a slowly healing James Howlett after a successful mission. Gray does not have Kitty meet Henry McCoy as he is recovering from breaking up with Munroe, and is watching senator Andrew Turk plan to sue the X-Men for Bobby Drake's injuries he sustained fighting for the X-Men. In the Danger Room, Howlett complains about Summer and Gray's new relationship while Pryde has Xavier agree not to send Kitty on any missions. As Kitty says goodbye to Pryde, Gray has a vision of the Phoenix Force, driving her to scream in terror as the X-Men rush to aid her.
