Ultimate X-Men 25: Hellfire and Brimstone Part 5 is the twenty-fifth Ultimate X-Men issue.
Summary[]
Charles Xavier, Jean Gray, Ororo Munroe, and Piotr Rasputin arrive at the Hellfire Club in a banquet to meet their benefactors for the first time. The X-Men mingle and talk with the assembled club members, and Xavier meets the club's leader: Sebastian Shaw. Shaw explains to Xavier that Mutants will eventually take over the planet, and ensuring they are well protected now will secure the future. Two Hellfire Club members watched the proceedings from a dark corner, anticipating an upcoming opening. Shaw gives a speech to the assembled crowd saying that the Hellfire Club's great traditions of future sight and philanthropy are ever present in the modern day, and suddenly Munroe and Rasputin ares shot unconscious. Xavier is horrified and Shaw reveals that no media are actually here, and implicates Gray in the plot before Xavier is neutralized. In a massive ritual chamber, the three are strapped to a tilted altar while Shaw and Gray stand in the center. Shaw explains to Xavier that Gray is the host of the Phoenix Force, a God imprisoned for twenty billion years that the Hellfire Club have been preparing to welcome from the beginning of history. Despite Xavier believing the phoenix to be a product of Gray's powers, Shaw proceeds with the ritual, and a massive pillar of fiery energy engulfs Gray as the Phoenix Force comes to Earth. The Phoenix Force overwhelmes gray and she kills the Hellfire Club inner circle in anger, and kills Shaw after reassigning his wealth to Xavier. Gray begins mouthing the commands of the Phoenix Force, healing people worldwide, but Xavier stops as she prepares a resurrection. Xavier struggles with the Phoenix Force and convinces Gray that it's not real, and an explosion fills the house as Gray returns to normal. Henry McCoy calls Munroe from an alleyway and tells her that the Brotherhood of Mutants met him and are reawakening Erik Lensherr's memories of being Magneto. Metal arranges itself into the words 'Thank You Charles' in the sky, and in a New York building, Lensherr asks whose idea it was to save him. Prosimian gladly takes credit and is promptly murdered for his ambitions and orders Franklin Dukes to give his former allies twenty-four hours to apologize to him, and to tell his children he's home.
