James Howlett arrives at JFK International Airport in New York with his driver, but they both are shot hundreds of times by Weapon X agents led by John Wraith. Henry McCoy works on the Blackbird as Jean Gray flies it, them landing and meeting the others who are called to see Charles Xavier. Xavier tells them that Howlett has been spotted in a military convoy and must be rescued. Wraith fires at Howlett in an Adamantium cage and assures him he will never escape Weapon X again. The X-Men arrive and Ororo Munroe creates a storm while McCoy and Piotr Rasputin free Howlett. Howlett drives after the fleeing wraith and Liebowitz and causes them to run into a tree. Liebowitz dies, and Howlett prepares to kill Wraith, but Jean stops him. At a Brotherhood of Mutants meeting, Erik Lensherr informs them that his plan worked out flawlessly, and Howlett has infiltrated the X-Men.
