Summary[]
Jean Gray blows James Howlett out of bed after Howlett confesses he was sent to kill Charles Xavier. Xavier then announces to all of Washington D.C. that Erik Lensherr and his reprogrammed Sentinels are heading to the city and evacuation is mandatory. In the Savage Land, Scott Summers heads for the Blackbird and tries to convince Pietro Lensherr to come too. The Sentinels arrive in Washington and the battle begins with the X-Men fighting the massive robots. Howlett even joins the battle, but Lensherr has captured George Bush and is preparing to crush him with a car on live television. Xavier splits the car in half, saving Bush, but Lensherr throws him to the ground and points an array of guns at him. Howlett cuts Lensherr's back, but Lensherr shoves a metal pike through Howlett's back as he creates a magnetic pulse to launch the world's nuclear weapons. Pietro arrives and takes his father's helmet, allowing Xavier to enter Lensherr's mind and shut down the weapons and drawing all the magnetic rubble in the city around Lensherr. It explodes in an electric blast, and Lensherr is pronounced dead. Summers and Xavier talk about the success, as Xavier promises his plan has only just begun.
